Day 1 of the raw food week

The food was good, but I way over extended myself on making it…dinner took me 1 1/2 hours to make, eat and clean up…it doesn’t need to be that hard. I usually don’t mind making dinner that long, but I bought a bunch of plants and had to get them all into the ground/dirt…they’re in planters…so I was really hungry and having to do all that work wasn’t fun…but it wasn’t that bad. The lunch was really good…better than I thought…I made the hummus, that was easy, spread it on romaine lettuce with broccoli slaw and alfalfa sprouts and a little tomato…very good! I’ll have that again on Sunday.

I also did yoga today…I do it twice a week…but it just seemed to go with what I was doing even though I did it before eating….I plan to do it Monday too….I usually do the Firm on Monday…but that will be Wesak and I want to release any and all tension…and toxins. I have felt good today, no toxins surfacing and my energy was good. Here’s what I’ll be having tomorrow:

Breakfast:

  • 1/4 Cantaloupe, 4 oz strawberries and banana
  • 1 C kefir
  • 1 t 3-6-9 oil
  • Green Magma Green drink

Lunch:

  • 2 oz raw cheese
  • 8 oz fresh juiced juice (I’ll juice it before I leave…we’re going to the Art Festival)
  • 2 carrots, jicama
  • 1 T nuts

Dinner:

  • 16 oz salad
  • 4 oz sprouted garbanzo beans, 1/2 C yogurt
  • 8 oz vegetable juice
  • 4 T raw dressing

Have a great day! Talk to you tomorrow.

Very good raw food dinner.

zucchini pasta recipeOK, I’m getting jazzed about the raw food week…it starts next Friday the 16th…one week from today. I offered to show some raw food to my meditation group friends on Wednesday to get ready for Wesak…so I’m bringing some sample food and wanted to try raw spaghetti sauce before serving it….

I’ve been eating the zucchini in the saladacco now for about a year, but I put prepared spaghetti sauce and Kraft parmesan cheese on it. Tonight I whipped up some raw spaghetti sauce…and didn’t use cheese….Eric even liked it…and he liked it on the zucchini “pasta”….that’s good because he’s even more picky than the kids….well, he’s actually been very adventurous lately…how fun.

I also made raw salad dressing….the recipe on the bottle of Bragg’s, a vinegarette…also good….I had a kefir smoothie for desert…and amaranth…I really wasn’t planning a raw meal so I didn’t change that…but I’m excited…I’m going to be able to do this for a week…no problem. I hope you’ll give it a try with me…I know from the juice fasts that I’ve done that it feels so good, clean and energizing.

I think for the raw food demo I’ll also bring some raw hummus with carrots and jicama…I just heard of jicama about 2 years ago…it’s very crispy and crunchy…it’s not really popular here…at least with people that I have talked to….but most people do like it when they try it. Oh, and lucky me, they had raw cheese on sale at The Better Health Store, so I’m ready with that too. So, that’ll be raw zucchini pasta with raw spaghetti sauce, salad with raw dressing, hummus with veggies to dip and maybe a keifer smoothie for desert…then I’ll have to bring the blender too…I’ll see how it goes…I’m going to need to be able to do this pretty quick.

I’m 41 and 2 months

I took the Real Age test,  and it said that I’m 41 and 2 months…which is exactly what I am. Eric thinks the test won’t make you younger than you are because then you won’t buy their stuff to get younger…sounds good to me…I can’t be more than 26:). If you take it let me know how your ages came out please – it’s free.

Tonight we got in around 9:00, we went to a college orientation for Brett so I didn’t get dinner until almost 10:00…I don’t mind…I had a huge salad with the garbanzo beans I sprouted…yummm…and sweet potato fries…I never get sick of those either…the recipe is on line…they’re easy. I was emotional just at the thought of him graduating and going to college…so happy for him…he’s about to start becoming who he’s going to be…and I still want him to be my little boy all at the same time. I think that I’m going to be a blubbering idiot when the real stuff starts happening.

Alexis’s lacrosse practice got canceled due to the snow, she was bummed so I suggested that she do the workout I got her….she wasn’t that bummed. She had a power point presentation to do…I’m so impressed with what she can do on that computer….she definitely got her dad’s gift there….she’s working on a very cool secret project too that I can’t talk about yet…but I will tell you as soon as I can.

Shopping Day

Eric likes to go shopping with me now…and I love it. We went to Horrocks to load up on the veggies…where else can you buy 4 bags of groceries for $30…it doesn’t have to be expensive to be healthy….and 4 other store with me…he’s such a good hubby!

I got one of my old workouts….Kathy Smith’s Fat Burning Work Out…from the library today for my daughter…I want to see if she likes it before I buy it again…it’s from the 80’s…and they look the part : ) I did it a little while ago and forgot how good it makes you feel…I just feel like I did something really good for my body…I hope she likes it…I may buy it again for myself anyway….I do Yoga and The Firm…but this one has a such a nice feeling…if you’re new to working out I don’t think there’s a better one to do, she shows and tells you what and why you’re doing the whole time…you feel stretched and strengthened.

I took a day off spring cleaning and watched DVR episodes of “You are What You Eat” instead. Another British show…I think that I need to visit London….this one is a Dietitian who gets in peoples faces about what they’re eating…but they always get on the right track. They all seem like Simon Cowell on American Idol….the stars of this show and the clean house….they tell it like they see it with no bones about it…Kim, Aggie and Gillian end up being nice and caring though…some times Simon is too : )

I started some garbanzo beans soaking so I can sprout them over the next couple of days…they are my favorite spouts of all time…and so healthy. I had a 75% raw dinner too after getting the beans ready…it inspired me….I had a zucchini in the saladacco….it makes me feel like I’m eating an enormous plate of pasta…with 1/2 C spaghetti sauce and an ounce of Parmesan cheese…really satisfying and healthy…raw zucchini is great for your hair and bones and all of the vitamins and enzymes are in tact….I also had a huge dark green organic salad with spinach, grape tomatoes, onions, sugar snap peas…good healthy me today : ) For Easter tomorrow were going to a family dinner…with lots and lots of goodies and food…stuff I can’t eat…and I’m contributing to the food I can’t eat…when stuff like that comes up I make something on the indulgence end for myself…along with my vegetables…that I’ll make party style and corn chips…also party style…I’m mixing stevia into 1/2 C ricotta cheese and drizzling 2 T of Walden Farms blueberry syrup on it….it tastes like cheese cake with blueberries on it….and does the trick for me! Ok, now I’m off to make the Chicken salad and color Easter Eggs.
